Visit Monterey Chapel

Monterey Chapel is conveniently located in Leola, Pennsylvania. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning, we look forward to welcoming you and helping you feel at home.

What to Expect?

If this is your first time visiting our church, here is a brief overview of what to expect on a Sunday. Be sure to check out the rest of the website for more details about our services, events, and who we are. Additionally, you can have your questions answered by checking out our FAQS page and/or contacting our elders.

Our community is full of personal, encouraging, and welcoming individuals. Our love for the Lord drives us to show kindness towards each other. At Monterey, you will find a family that sincerely desires to know you and grow together.

If you have little ones, we do provide a well-equipped nursery space and a play area for toddlers. You can care for your toddlers in the play room or request a babysitter so you can tend to your baby in nusery, equipped with changing supplies, a crib, and a rocking chair, or so you can enjoy the meetings upstairs.

We start our breaking of bread service, our first meeting at 9:30 AM. During this hour, men will lead the congregation in worship by sharing scripture and thoughts that points to Jesus Christ, prayer, or requesting hymns to sing. We have a designated song leader who starts the hymns, which are sung from one of our hymnals. Women are encouraged to sing but we otherwise ask them to fulfill their role in the church by worshipping in silence. Towards the end of the meeting, any man who feels led will give thanks for the bread and the cup respectively. After each prayer, two designated men will pass the emblems. The “cup” is individual small cups of grape juice. We ask you discard your cup in the basket that is passed at this time. An offering is passed but we do not require anyone to give money. The offering is used for chapel expenses, to give to individuals in need of financial support, and to give to our supported missionaries and ministries. You are welcome to write in a recommendation for where you would like your gift to be used.

Following the meeting, an elder will give some announcements and we break for a few minutes for food and fellowship in a separate room.

10:45 AM begins our next meeting. During this time, you are welcome to continue your conversations in the back room quietly or meet back in the auditorium for an interactive Bible lesson. This an informal time where you can learn from God’s Word and share questions, comments, or feedback on anything the speaker said.

If you have kids of elementary or junior high school age, they are welcome to join other kids in separate classrooms where they will learn about the Gospel and age appropriate Bible lessons.

Our last meeting is from 11:15 AM to 12:15. This is a time intended for the family. We start with more announcements and then we sing a few modern or classic hymns, with slides provided for convenience. Following, a speaker will give a sermon on a passage of Scripture. This is an opportunity for more Bible teaching.

After the message, you are welcome to linger and talk to people as they head home.
